Culture: Here, we see the importance of music in Ireland, as a social experience and a critical part of interactions between the members of Irish society.
Instrumentation: First violin (fiddle), guitar, and banjo, then other guitar and fiddle players join in periodically
When watching this piece, although unnamed in this video, it was not hard to see the cultural impact music has in Irish society. It starts just how you'd think, a bunch of people sitting around at a bar socializing. As the traditional music session starts, everyone gets up and starts dancing behind the group, cheering them on with their dancing and enthusiasm.
When watching this video, it made me think of my own experiences with music in my own culture, and how this is nothing I've ever seen before. Our own cultural identity is not nearly apparent as it is in places like Ireland, which in my opinion, is quite unfortunate. I wish that I could go somewhere to hang out with friends, while having a cultural experience at the same time.
